Férnandez Pushing to Reactivate Altamiran People's Congress

the UVM's plans the People's Congress will be returning here.

In a recent development, seemingly miles away from the debates surrounding the Cibolan Cold War, Pedro López Férnandez has started a push to reactivate the Altamiran People's Congress (APC). Despite the fact that the APC being set up during a period of hightened activity, Pedro López feels that it holds a substantial amount of importance still.

"The government of the people, in our country, needs to work on three levels as we have a well developed internal administrative structure. We need our Senate working at the highest level for region and country, we need the People's Congress working to unite all citizens on a national level, and we need our regional congress working for issues relevent to all citizens on a local basis."

The APC has been inactive of late and the dissappearance of the leader, Sr De Bord, has resulted in the APC falling into a state of near disrepair. After starting a confidence vote on the leadership of De Bord, Pedro López, has declared that the 75% vote of no confidence should be sufficient for the Emperor to arrange an alternative leader so that the APC can once more be active. He has of course put his name forward. The ball now lies in the Emperor's court.

The Cibolan Cold War Sees the Finger Pointing Begin

Far from showing the kind of solidarity that a country requires in order to survive in times of crisis, the senior members of Martino government seem to be falling apart. The senior figures are of course reacting to an exposé in the Cibolenland (formerly Germania, Triesenburg and Colchis) national newspaper. This exposé showed evidence retrieved by a Cibolenland spy of an attempt by the Martino governemnt to start a war which would suck in other nations into a large-scale conflict.

Since the publication of the article fingers have been pointed by the right-wing at prominent members of the left that may or may not have had any involvement recently in Germania. The first victim of the right's targetted agression was Alfonso Aruarte, a founding father of San Martin. The only reason cited by his accusors being that a nation he was a part of recently merged themselves with Germania to for Cibolenland. Slowly but surely the pressure is being released from his shoulders as people consider two major factors, a) there is no evidence and b) why would Aruarte actually destroy something he helped to create? It is worth noting though that outspoken citizen Alarico Montario continues to attribute blame to Aruarte.

In another interesting twist to the finger pointing, Pedro López Fénandez, General Secretary of the U.V.M. has found himself on the recieving end of the rights accusations. Again the mere fact that Pedro López has worked on both sides of the border recently seem the only reason for the blame being thus applied. Again, if we look at the logical side of the argument, Pedro López firstly wouldn't want to jeopardise all the hard work he has put into establishing a political party in San Martin and, secondly, he worked on behalf of the Germanian pro-democracy movement and has been the vitcim of Germanian anti-democracy movement on three separate occasions. All three occasions resulted in him having his account details meddled with in an attempt to prevent him voting.

So where will the argument and buck-passing end? Why should it have started? Maybe the answer lies not with left but somewhere a little closer to home. In a time when Cibolenland goes from strength to strength, with internal stability at an all time high, and where in contrast San Martin has had its Senate dissolved and where a strong anti-war contigent are getting more and more restless at the trigger happy, do we have any choice but to cease internal hostility and start building bridges instead of burning them? Maybe that answer lies with right.

From Red to Green

The ever-changing face of San Martin Communism has undertaken what its General Secretary Pedro López Férnandez calls "Final stage of the transition". So what is he talking about now? Well in a new twist the party that began as the Communist Party of San Martin (PCSM), then changed to the Martino Communist Union (UCM) has become the Union Verde Martino (UCM) or, in English, the Martino Green Union. This new idea would, within the state, incorporate both ideas from Marx and Engels' Communist Manifesto and adds in a twist of environmentalism.

To accommodate for this sideways 'progression' gone is the red star flag that had been for a long time the symbol of Martino communism and in its place is a pair of green leaves that look like a bird. In addition small changes have been made to the manifesto to incorporate environmentalism and yet reiterate the communist message.

So where now for the final incarnation of Martino communism? Well they have said in a statement announcing the changes that they wish to formally enter into a voting alliance, a coalition of sorts, with the Izquierda Republicana. This idea awaits the opinions of the Republican Left but it is hoped an agreement can be reached to allow both parties to retain there unique identities, and yet, work closely together to promote socialism.

So green communism, will it work? We'll see what the Republican Left think..!

Martino citizens taken as hostages by Germanian mobs

BERLIN, Germania; El Nuevo Dia - A San Martino Chinook helicopter evacuating the last remaining Martinos from Germania was shot down as it left the Martino Embassy compound. The mob, numbering about 1,500 Germanians, stormed the empty embassy and shot the helicopter just as it was leaving the pad. The mod took the survivors of the crash and claimed them as hostages.

Don Augusto Benavides, Minister of Defense of San Martin claims this is "to be considered as act of war." The mob still has not communicated with the San Martino government to name their terms. Kurt Fischer, a Germanian official, pledged to "do whatever it takes to find the hostages". He assured the Martino government that these events were not planned by the government and that they do not want war.

The San Martino government, namely Prime Minister Allende, still have not made an official statement on this event. There is some speculation that an ultimatum might be issued to return the hostages.

Germania mobilizing troops "to open fire on Martinos"

LOS SANTOS, San Martin; El Nuevo Dia - Following the announcement that the Empire of San Martin had broken off diplomatic relations with the Federal Republic of Germania, the newly elected Germanian President, Wolfgang Schneiderhan ordered a general mobilization of all German armed forces "to prevent incidents instigated by agent provocateurs and rogue elements along the common border with the Nord-Mittelcibolen nations." Reservists have been called in in Germania and it is expected that every Germanian citizen will "let themselves be mustered for military service."

This announcement was followed by another, made by Air Marshal AdolfGrecy. "The Airforce is awaiting your commands and is ready to open fire on Martinos that attack us or Soldiers from treisenberg [sic]," said Grecy.

The San Martino government has yet to respond to the general mobilization of forces in Germania, and Prime Minister Allende will address the nation again through a press conference in the Prime Minister's mansion sometime today.

Allende officially breaks relations with Germania

LOS SANTOS, San Martin; El Nuevo Dia - Prime Minister Jose Agustin Allende made another crucial speech today on the recent events in the Federal Republic of Germania. In his speech, he bashed the winner of the Germanian presidential elections Wolfgang Schneiderhan. "These efforts to curtail and halt the march of democracy and popular will was led by none other than Wolfgang Schneiderhan himself," said PM Allende in his speech.

Prime Minister Allende went on to announce that the Empire of San Martin was officially breaking all diplomatic relations with Germania. He urged all Germanian nationals to leave San Martin "as soon as possible". In his speech, Allende revealed that he made secret trips to Germania himself to see how the elections worked. It was then when El Nuevo Dia recieved complaints from a few Germanian citizens, saying that the elections were beriddled with fraud, violent coercion and even account hacking.

It is not know yet what precisely this break of relations will cause. Germania has not reacted as of yet.

BERLIN, Germania; El Nuevo Dia - With results trickling in for the Germanian presidential elections, members of the opposition have accused the government of trying to steal the election and urged people to defend their vote. "The government has fraudulently, once again, betrayed the people," Otto Von Bismarck said to El Nuevo Dia. "We believe the people of Germania must defend their vote and their right to free and fair elections."

Von Bismarck, a member of the Socialist Unity Party, the party that has led the voices for change and democracy in Germania, has come forward, saying "They took my user account, changed the password and now they have voted as me." He said he will appeal the result in Germania's courts — which the government doesn't even have. But he would not specify what actions he would take.

Previous attempts at protest have been violently crushed by security forces and members of the ruling party. The Empire of San Martin, whose diplomats were visiting including Prime Minister Allende himself, observed the campaign and voting, agreed with Von Bismarck that the voting was severely flawed.

Emperor addresses nation, calls for a new constitution

LOS SANTOS, San Martin; El Nuevo Dia - His Imperial Majesty Roberto I addressed the nation yesterday, sharing his fears and doubts on the current status of the San Martino Realm. In his speech, his Imperial Majesty outlined his preoccupations with the current constitution of the Empire, which he authored. "The current constitution does not suit the needs of the nation well. Therefore, I hereby request that a resolution be drawn to allow me to create a Constitutional Convention composed of myself as well as any of you, my beloved subjects, who wish to participate," said His Imperial Majesty in his speech.

So far, the people of San Martin have welcomed His Majesty's speech, applauding and proclaiming how proud they feel of their Emperor. Prime Minister Allende said "I support your decisions, and I will back this Constitutional Convention full heartedly."

Also yesterday, His Imperial Majesty appointed Don Augusto Benavides, Don Jose Enrique Martin, Alfonso Manuel Aruarte and Jose Vera Romero to the Imperial Privy Council. The Prime Minister is a member of the Privy Council as well.

Allende makes crucial speech on Germanian policy, calls on protestors to vote

LOS SANTOS, San Martin; El Nuevo Dia - Prime Minister Jose Agustin Allende opened a press conference early today on foreign affairs policy with a speech that strongly condemned the actions of the Germanian government and called on protestors to "avoid resorting to violence and illegitimate coups" and "use the last right they have, which is the right to vote." This comes as voices of dissent in Germania are quickly rising against the current government, and as protestors that have only resorted to making their views known, have been coerced into submission.

Prime Minister Jose Agustin Allende did not make clear in his speech whether San Martin would directly intervene in favor of the protestors, but he did make clear that San Martin is committed to freedom and democracy for all. "It is my perception, and the perception of those protesters in the streets of Berlin, that Germania's government does not express these ideals of democracy and liberty," said Sr. Allende in his speech.

Following the speech, Sr. Allende opened the floor for questions. As this article went to press, there were no questions yet.

Prime Minister Allende calls off state visit to Germania

LOS SANTOS, San Martin; El Nuevo Dia - Relations between San Martin and Germania worsened yesterday as Prime Minister Jose Agustin Allende abruptly cancelled a planned visit to Berlin, which was supposed to be the first stop in a major foreign affairs tour of all the Cibolan nations. "Due to recent domestic unrest in Germania and hostility by protesters towards the Empire of San Martin, Ambassador Benavides and myself, I have decided to cancel my state visit to Germania," said Prime Minister Allende.

Mr. Allende called off the trip, which had been scheduled to begin tomorrow, in response to a statement by Germania's protesters particularly Erich Honecker, Nazi leader Anton Harrer and others, that called the Prime Minister a "twat", "asshole" and a "dictator". San Martino Defense Minister and Ambassador to Germania, Augusto Benavides, travelled to Germania yesterday and was insulted publicly by the protesters.

GERMANIA: Voices of dissent rising quickly

BERLIN, Germania; El Nuevo Dia - As the general elections in Germania approach, voices of dissent towards the two major political parties in Germania, the Free Democratic Party and the Social Democratic Party, have intensified. Protests all around Germania have been staged by the opposition parties, mainly by the Socialist Unity Party, bashing President Kaylee Howitz (FDP) and Presidential candidate Kurt Fischer (SDP). The protests have escalated into violence in Koln, where the German Worker's Party (GWP, Nazis) is staging them. The government has responded with extreme hostility to these peaceful protests. The protests in Koln, led by Nazi leader Anton Harrer, have turned into outright rebellion.

Protesters contend that Germania is "grossly mismanaged" and believe that the leadership is to blame for the fact that Germania presently lacks a constitution and code of laws regulating elections. Some of the protesters are calling for a "socialist Reich".

The general elections in Germania have been dated for April 17th. "The protesters are right, Germania lacks rule of law and democracy, but I believe that in the end, either Howitz or Fischer will win the election... at all costs," said a Germanian under anonymity.

As this article went to press, public opinion polls in Germania are calling the election very close for the Social Democratic Party, showing that most likely, the victor in the Germanian elections will be Kurt Fischer.

Senate majority independent, parties fight for majority

LOS SANTOS, San Martin; El Nuevo Dia - His Imperial Majesty Roberto I of San Martin published the final results of the Senatorial elections after several issues with the Altamiran Senate ballot. The Senatorial elections forged a new Senate dominated mostly by Independents, while the Partido Popular (PP) and the Izquierda Republicana (IR) hold a tie in seats. Those elected to the Senate were Ximun de Aguirre (IR) from Ponce, normally a fascist/monarchist province; Jose Agustin Allende (PP) from Las Cruces; Alfonso Manuel Aruarte, who became an independent after leaving the IR from Altamira; Alejandro de Corazon (IP) from Siesta; Julian Alejandro Diego Martinez (Ind.) from San Andreas; Alarico Pablo Montario (PP) from El Dorado and José Andrés Villa (Ind.) from Los Santos. Now, both the PP and the IR are in a battle to win over these independents in a quest to place their man on the Prime Minister's mansion.

Congress is set to open today, with Senators and Representatives signing their constitutional oaths to become the first legislators of the new Empire of San Martin. Current Prime Minister Jose Agustin Allende plans to address Congress on Monday, outlining his plans for a new San Martin and unveiling a legislative agenda, starting with the establishment of rules of procedure for the San Martino Congress.

Rebels 30 Minutes from Batona

Wired from Batona, Siesta: It has been claimed by senior commanders of the Ejecito de la Nueva Esperanza (ENE), a paramilitary organisation, that not only were they approached by Siblanos rebels asking for military support but also that rebels are closing in on major towns in Siesta. Their main target is believed to be Batona, the hometown of the suspected rebel leader, Alejandro de Corazon. The ENE claim the rebels are hiding out in hills a mere 30 minutes drive from the centre of Batona, where the bulk of the alleged pro-seccesionist supporters are protesting against imperial rule.

Any other information is unknown as the ENE refused to aid the Sibolanos Rebels. It is also unknown how much the San Martin military know about the Rebels' whereabouts. The San Martino Government has been strengthening the military presence in the towns of Siesta amid fears of a violent climax to protests, with Batona being a major focal point. It is now understood that all information from the ENE has been passed on to the Government.

MOSAIC Corp. reports missing military equipment

Equipment missing includes a small biological warhead built by MOSAIC in secret
LOS SANTOS, San Martin; El Nuevo Dia - MOSAIC Corp., the San Martino-based armament company founded and owned by current Prime Minister Allende, has confirmed to El Nuevo Dia that military merchandise is missing from several Altamiran inventory facilities. This comes as reports of missing Imperial defense equipment and of Corazon supplying rebels with said equipment have been published.

Prime Minister Allende, owner and CEO of MOSAIC, has not issued a statement as of yet on this matter.

MOSAIC Corp. installations in Altamira reported missing T-2 Martino Medium Tanks, LAPECs, helicopters and other military equipment built and stored by MOSAIC as early as February 25th. Officials failed to report it to local law enforcement because it was believed that it was just a glitch in inventory. When it became clear that the equipment was missing, MOSAIC launched its own investigation on the matter and found that the equipment was indeed stolen by men sporting military fatigues with Siesta protesters insignia. Investigators also drew up a more accurate list of stolen equipment, which include a small biological warhead built by MOSAIC in secret. MOSAIC was to announce the launching of a small WMD-program in coming weeks as part of its line of equipment.

It is not know or confirmed if the warhead itself was stolen by the same people that stole the other equipment but investigations say that both robberies might be connected. So far 100 million M worth of equipment has been stolen, with 32 million M of it recovered by law enforcement in Siesta.

Corazon supplying weapons to Siesta rebels, sources say

ALTAMIRA, San Martin; El Nuevo Dia - El Nuevo Dia has recieved an anonymous tip from the province of Altamira that Alejandro de Corazon has been supplying weapons to the assembling rebel armies in the San Martino colony of Siesta. The anonymous tip specified that he has been supplying weapons from the Imperial Armed Forces, which are in turn supplied by the powerful weaponry of MOSAIC Corporation.

MOSAIC Corporation officials have yet to react to the tip. Government authorities will soon launch an investigation, for the tip also mentions that Corazon has been collaborating in the establishment of an unknown rebel armed force and passing them crucial information on the Imperial armed forces.

Emperor appoints Allende as Prime Minister, eyes on Senate election now

LOS SANTOS, San Martin, El Nuevo Dia - His Imperial Majesty Emperor Roberto I of San Martin appointed Col. Jose Agustin Allende as San Martin's first Prime Minister early today. Many are praising this significant move. Gen. Martin, running for the Senate seat of Ponce, offered his congratulations to Allende: "Yay!! Congrats to you too Allende!! Woot woot!! lol".

The Republican Left (successor to the IU, formerly known as the Izquierda Unida) has still to react to this announcement.

Now, the attention of the general public turns to the upcoming Senate elections in March 28th. The Partido Popular, the party of which Allende is a President and leading member of, has already put forward candidates for the Ponce, Las Cruces and El Dorado seats. The Ponce seat will be bitterly contested between Gen. Martin and Ximun de Aguirre, a Republican Left politician. Meanwhile, Julian Alejandro Diego Martinez, a former member of the PRN, has left Las Cruces and has become Viceroy of San Andreas and has filed papers to run for that seat as an Independent. Members of the Partido Popular have to yet react to this recent casualty in the ongoing political war for San Martin. If the Partido Popular does not manage to have a concrete base of support in the Senate, Col. Allende might lose his position as Prime Minister and be replaced by a Republican Leftist, which, no doubt, will probably attempt to restore the Republic.

Protests in Siesta, locals hit the streets demanding autonomy

BATONA, Siesta, El Nuevo Dia - Widespread protests have broken out in the Martino territory of Siesta, where a volatile mix of locals and Martinos have already begun to show signs of a possible explosion. Locals went out into the streets of all Siesta, claiming that Imperial officials in Siesta are mistreating the "Sibolanos" or Native people, Métis and other inhabitants. Protesters are protesting the existance of the Empire, while others claim that the Empire has forgotten the needs of Siesta. Protesters apparently wish more autonomy for Siesta. This would include the establishment of an Assembly which can override decisions made by Los Santos, even those of the Emperor.

The Minister of Defense, Augusto Benavides, has sent Imperial Army and Marine Regiments into Siesta for peacekeeping under the command of Col. Allende with the support of Gen. Martin and Air Marhsal Montario. Troops have specific orders of engagement. "Do not shoot unless you're being shot at," said Gen. Martin to the troops. In regards to this, the Emperor said "Let the protesters protest...except for where they might interfere with everyday life, causing traffic jams, etc., in such case I still want the most harmful weapon to be used to be fire hoses."

Emperor issues writ of elections for the Senate

LOS SANTOS, San Martin; El Nuevo Dia - Emperor Roberto I of San Martin issued a writ of election for the Senate of the National Congress two days ago. The Emperor opened candidacy registration soon after, and scores of people are lining up to file their papers to be elected to the first Senate in San Martin's history. The Partido Popular (heir of the PRN) has so far forwarded three candidates for Ponce, Las Cruces and El Dorado; while the Communists have forwarded only one candidate for Altamira. Nominations will close the 13th of March, and the election will be conducted on March 28th.

Troi Raibert I of Slobovia takes San Martino throne, Junta appointed

LOS SANTOS, San Martin; El Nuevo Dia - Soon after the bloodless coup was executed and supported by former President Garcia y Ramirez, President Jose Agustin Allende proceded to publish the temporary replacement for the Constitution, titled "The Plan of Las Cruces". The Plan invited HM King Troi Raibert I of Slobovia to be the first Martino Emperor since the reign of Ricardo I (1901-1911). HM accepted the invitation and was welcomed by President Allende.

Soon after the acceptance, President Allende appointed the members of the Junta Nacional de Gobierno, which include former President Roberto Garcia y Ramirez, fromer VP Alfonso Manuel Aruarte, Pedro Lopez Fernandez, Jose Enrique Martin, Augusto Benavides, Mateo Reyes Solana and Ximun de Aguirre. Members are currently signing in and preparing to begin drafting a constitution for the new monarchy. "I have seen how micronational monarchies seem to last much more than micronational republics," said President Allende. "This will be the beginning of a new era in San Martin."

Coup d'etat in San Martin

LOS SANTOS, San Martin; El Nuevo Dia- In a matter of hours, a coalition of military and paramilitary forces took control of the Republic of San Martin. The soldiers of the Second Legion, commanded by Jose Agustin Allende, marched into the capital and occupied the Government District. By the end of the day, all government and media agencies were occupied by armed soldiers. The leaders of the coup are said to be high-ranking members of the military and the civilian government, who broadcasted a wide radio message at 0300 this afternoon.

One of the soldiers, speaking to this reporter, said, "We are here to bring San Martin back to its past glory. Back to the activity of before and under the current constitution, this is impossible. How will you make a country live with an inactive legislature?" Pressed on the issue, the soldier refused to clarify.

The radio message, spoken by General Maurice Rivera, broadcasted on a continuous loop on all local radio stations, "People of San Martin, I am Jose Agsutin Allende. As of today, the Republic of San Martin is no longer. The failures of our Constitution to provide ways of solving the issues of an inactive Congress forced us to take drastic action. In order to prevent bloodshed, we proclaim that the new government of this nation will be the Junta Nacional de Gobierno to be headed by me. What we do now is for your sake. To improve our safety, we recommend all citizens stay in their homes for the next 48 hours. We expect all media outlets to shut down operations. All political organizations will also be expected to cease operations, until this crisis is resolved. Great strife creates great strength. For the Republic of San Martin!"

We currently have knowledge that the President has joined forces with the coup and has adressed the nation via radio, offering his support to the coup.

The new government arising from the coup has revoked the Constitution and established the Plan of Las Cruces as a replacement, setting up a constitutional monarchy in San Martin and inviting Troi Raibert I of Slobovia to the Martino throne.

President García y Ramírez declares state of emergency

Los Santos, San Martin; El Nuevo Dia - For the first time in San Martino history today, President García y Ramírez issued a declaration of a state of emergency, quoting Congressional inactivity as the major reason behind this declaration. Newly appointed Vice-President Jose Agsutin Allende supported the declaration, responding "As Vice-President of the Republic, I testify that the legislature is at this time practically frozen and I agree with the course of action the President is hereby taking." This comes days after Vice-President Aruarte was forced to resign by President García y Ramírez after his failure to get Congress active and on business. He was replaced by the former President Jose Agustin Allende Feb 25 2005.

El Nuevo Dia reopens after strike

Los Santos, San Martin; El Nuevo Dia - El Nuevo Dia finally opened today after a severe strike that came after the departure of Chris Loutrado from San Martin. Chris, besides destroying all the posts in the Ministry of Diplomatic Affairs, destroyed much of the posts made in the headquarters of El Nuevo Dia, including salary and employee lists.

CEO Jose Agustin Allende finally put an end to the strike after he agreed to negotiate a new salary list for El Nuevo Dia. As of now, the coffers of El Nuevo Dia are empty, and the company faces bankruptcy. Company officials will meet in the coming weeks to discuss the fate of El Nuevo Dia, one of the many branches of the Allende family buisness empire.

García y Ramírez sworn in as 2nd San Martino President

Los Santos, San Martín; El Nuevo Dia - In a simple ceremony today in the Capitol, outgoing President Allende swore in President-elect García y Ramírez as the second President of the Republic of San Martín. In his inaugural address, President García y Ramírez outlined a plan for national unity and strength. In his speech he affirmed that he would continue the fight against terrorism: "We will be ever vigilant and never vulnerable, and we will fight our wars against terrorism, ignorance, and injustice--for those are the enemies against which our forces can be honorably marshaled." He also added in regards to dictatorships throughout Micras that "Because we are free we can never be indifferent to the fate of freedom elsewhere. Our moral sense dictates a clear-cut preference for these societies which share with us an abiding respect for individual human rights."

After the inaugural address, García y Ramírez swore Vice-President Aruarte (Izquierda Unida) in and proceded to post the oaths for the Second National Congress.

Los Santos, San Martín; El Nuevo Dia - Presidential election results were published yesterday as polls for the first San Martino Presidential election closed:

Roberto N. E. E. García y Ramírez - Alfonso Manuel Aruarte (PRI - IU): 11 votes; 61.11% [Elected]
Jose Agustin Allende - Augusto Benavides (PRN): 7 votes; 38.89%

Following the publishing of the Presidential election results, President Allende traveled to his hometown of Las Cruces to deliver his concession speech to a crowd of supporters numbering well into the 35,000s. The speech was emotional and stirring, but Allende called for unity under the new administration, claiming that "in this first San Martino election, there are no losers, because whether or not our candidates are successful, the next morning we all wake up as Martinos. And that -- that is the greatest privilege and the most remarkable good fortune that can come to us on earth." In his speech, Allende announced that he will retire from national politics and move back to his hometown of Las Cruces with his family.

It is not known yet what are President-elect Ramirez y Garcia's plans for San Martin, but it is expected that the PRN will not go quietly into the night in the new administration. As of now, in the congressional elections, the PRN holds 3 seats, the PRI holds 2 and the IU holds one. Most likely the IU and the PRI will get together into their coalition called "The Liberty Front", but the coalition would bring the legislature into a 50/50 split between National Republicans and the PRI-IU coalition.

Constitutional Referendum So Far Successful
New federalist constitution would set up the Estados Martinos Unidos

Los Santos, San Martín; El Nuevo Día - Following the signing of the Constitutional Referendum Act, 2005 by President Allende, polls all over the country opened to let eager citizens vote for the draft of the new Federalist Constitution, written by Vice-President Roberto García y Ramírez. In efforts to get the referendum passed, President Allende and the Vice-President, currently competing for the Presidency, have united to get this referendum passed by the people.

So far, as of today, there are seven votes in favor and five votes against the ratification of the draft. Polls will close tomorrow at 8 AM CST (9 AM EST).

Loutrado labeled a "terrorist", nations who harbor him in trouble

Los Santos, San Martín; El Nuevo Día - The current Martíno Constitution requires the President to "present to the National Congress, at the beginning of each month, a written message concerning the various matters of the Administration and the political situation of the Republic..." Yesterday, President Allende adressed the National Congress to fullfill this constitutional requirement. In his speech, President Allende labled Chris Loutradis a "terrorist scum" for his 31 counts of sabotage against the San Martino Ministry of Diplomatic Affairs which he headed until stepping down after serious arguments in which an esteemed foreign leader was threatened with rape.

In his speech, President Allende called upon all nations in which Chris Loutrado is involved in to "heed our call, and eliminate the terrorist parasite who threatens our Republic and their own." Allende went on to make a special threat to those nations who might refuse the President's call: "But if some governments will be timid in the face of terror, the Republic of San Martin will, no doubt, act against these nations who harbor the terrorist scum. And all nations should know: San Martin will do what is necessary to ensure our nation's security."

The speech was generally well-recieved by the nation, who is still in utter rage and furor against Chris Loutrado, especially his recent accusations of Presidential spying on the opposition. So far, Allende has denied this claims and even said "Feel free to investigate me if you so wish. I have nothing to hide."

Las Cruces, San Martín; Nuevo Día - Chris Loutradis (Cristo de Loutrado), a former Martíno citizen and former Minister of Diplomatic Affairs, has made public accusations today through tabloid newspapers "KapitaliaVoice" and the "Talamthom Cappuchino" that President Allende has "pulled a Watergate" and that he failed to publicize the fact that his brother is indeed participating in San Martin amongst other accusations. He also accuses Allende of joining the Crimson Order because "Allende is fully aware that the elections will not be good for him.For this reason he requested to become a member with his brother Martin in Crimson Order in ATTERA." Loutradis claims to have contacted Allende (Edgard Portela) about this, while Allende publicly recognized that he was never contacted and that "my AIM screename, my e-mail and everything are in my profile. He obviously didn't try to contact me in any way."

Loutrado, under the double login of "Bill Clintoni", posted his accusations and links to his tabloid newspapers on the San Martino forums. President Allende deleted the first post, but Loutradis posted again and Allende responded: "LOL. You make me laugh. What a cheap shot. Could you be anymore original?" Allende went on to confidently say that he was innocent and that plenty of people in San Martin knew about his brother's participation. Many high profile Martínos came to Allende's defense. Even the leader of the Izquierda Unida, current Minister of the Interior Alfonso Manuel Aruarte, said "I am afraid of is your MADNESS Loutradis".

These accusations come days after Chris Loutradis exploded when MoI Aruarte called him a bad Minister of Diplomatic Affairs. He was ordered to be arrested when he resigned as MoDA and erased all public files concerning treaties, diplomatic conversations and such with allies of San Martin. After arguing with many senior Martino officials and foreign leaders, he threatened to rape Antican leader Delphi Augustus in one of the most shocking moments in San Martino history. He departed San Martin and feld to Talamthom, where he controls the Citizen's Council. Allende and Aruarte (Portela and Redstone) proceded to file a complaint/lawsuit in Talamthom to sue Loutradis on charges of defamatio, slander and libel.

PRESIDENT ALLENDE SPEAKS AT NATIONAL REPUBLICAN CONVENTION
Calls for "New Republicanism" and for a more united San Martin

Las Cruces, San Martin; El Nuevo Dia - The National Republican Party, formerly known as the Christian Democrats, is in the midst of their national convention here in Las Cruces, where in the last few days, the party adopted its official party platform and saw speeches from prominent Republican politicians like Vice-Presidential candidate Augusto Benavides and Minister of Defense Jose Enrique Martin.

The most awaited speech of the convention was given today by the President of both the party and the Republic, Jose Agustin Allende. Allende was introduced by the First Lady, Laura Allende. In his speech, Allende unveiled his plan called "New Republicanism" which is set to tone down some of the past excesses of the party. In his speech, President Allende said:

"I believe firmly that the National Republican Party needs to become competitive
in all of the provinces. We must strive to show to all San Martinos that we are
not the party of big business or the wealthy. We are the party that represents
all Martinos, in every walk of life, no matter where they come from."

This could be construed by rival parties, now assembling an anti-Republican coalition called "The Liberty Front", as a virtual declaration of war on their strongholds. Altamira, a socialist stronghold, and Los Santos, a PRI stronghold, could see now intense campaigning from part of the National Republican Party in efforts to create a national coalition to govern the country. In his speech, Allende also called for national unity, calling recent political bickering "political extremism".

CHIEF JUSTICE GONE AWOL
Congress to consider pushing elections to March

Los Santos, San Martin; El Nuevo Dia - Chief Justice Augusto Manuel Rivera, who under the Provisional Electoral Act that setup these elections, has failed to comply with the law's timetable for the elections. According to law, he was supposed to issue a notice of registration for San Martino voters to register to vote in these elections, but he has failed to do so. The Provisional Electoral Act was amended to enable the Cheif Justice to do this, but now a Congressional resolution is aiming to solve this issue by creating commissions to conduct the elections. So far, the Socialists, under Debord, are expressing their opposition to the resolution, saying "We are drowning ourselves in bureaucracy. Simply appoint one honorable and well-respected citizen to be the Chief Elections Officer."

Another option being considered in the backrooms of San Martin is pushing the elections to March 6th to sort out and simplify electoral law and give people a chance to get registered to vote. Also, this would buy the Chief Justice time to take up his duties as Supervisor of Elections.

San Martín gearing up for elections Feb 6th

Los Santos, San Martín; El Nuevo Día - Today, according to the recently amended Provisional Electoral Act, the Chief Justice of the San Martíno Supreme Court was to issue a notice of voter registration for the upcoming general elections in February 6th. When the Chief Justice issues this notice, it will officially usher in the election week. Of course, parties have been on the offensive with campaigns, speeches and press releases for weeks now, supporting their chosen Congressional and Presidential candidates. Right now, parties are frantically trying to wrap up their national conventions and beginning to prepare to submit their list of candidates to the Chief Justice on January 30th.

San Martínos are excited to participate in their first general election. "I am looking at February 6th with both enthusiasm, excitement and anticipation. These elections will solidify the progress that has been made by the San Martin people and their continued and everlasting committment to democratic ideals," said Mateo Reyes Solana, member of the PRI and possible candidate to Congress. President Allende said, "This election, if sucessful, will not only prove that all of us are committed to San Martin and to its democratic principles, but it will prove that we are a safe democracy and we can make peacful transitions of power."

At the moment, the only sure candidates are the Allende-Benavides ticket for the National Republican Party. The PRI has so far nominated a President only (Ramirez y Garcia, current VP). The other smaller parties are alligning themselves and endorsing presidential candidates while also assembling a congressional candidate list.

Review: KIRS - the sensation of micronational radio

Shireroth, El Nuevo Día - Called "Brilliant", "Hysterical", "Good" by micronationalists all over, KIRS, the new sensation in micronationalist radio services, debuted January 14th, 2005 with its first broadcast. Since then, it has made four broadcasts and recieved more and more praise and recognition from micronationalists all over, including President Allende.

Its broadcasts are very imformative and outgoing- it provides information on micronations that are currently active rather than focusing on local news. Not only do they provide the most accurate and updated information in current micronational affairs, it does so in a humorous approach at times, breaking the monotony of seriousness.

The Nuevo Dia gives this new radio station four gold suns out of five. Keep up the good work, KIRS.

Anarchy in the Republic

Yesterday there was totally anarchy in the Republic of San Martín.

The coming elections had pushed everyone to the edge and huge fights broke out between the Christian Democrats and the members of the IU(formerly PSD) and PRI.

The fighting started after high ranking members of the PDC labelled Presidential candidate and leader of the PRI, Roberto Garcia y Ramírez, a Babkhan puppet and stated that a vote for the PRI would be a vote for Babkha and would lead to San Martín becoming a Babkhan Province.

Ramírez was understandably furious and set about to prove the PDC wrong by naming every member of his party and there past/present micronational citizenships. It turns out only one of the members was a Babkhan and that Ramírez himself had be ex-communicated by Babkha after trying to gain independence for the Babkhan colony of Kumarastan.

The leader of the United Left (IU) then put up a poster in defense of Ramírez, who the IU are backing in the election, which stated that rather than the PRI being Babkhan puppets it was the PDC who were under foreign influence. President Allende's candidacy has been backed by the Dinarchy of Antica.

This angered the PDC and sparked off further arguments, with the IU being labelled "Sick Communists" and the PDC being labelled "the Satanic Democrats".

The argument continued on AIM between the Minister of Defence, Alarico Pablo Montario (PDC),and the Minister of the Interior, Alfonos Manuel Aruarte (IU). Insults were thrown and eventually Montario decided it was best that he should leave San Martín as he felt he was getting the "respect" he deserved.

At this point the Republic was close to collapse. Rivalries and hatred and escalated and Montario's departure had sparked off a series of resignations. Arguments also continued between the different political parties.

Things seemed to have eventually calmed down when Montario returned to the Republic and started to cause trouble and insult people as well as saying he would be revealing intelligence and military secrets to our enemies. The 3 Leaders of the different parties had a meeting and decided it would be best for the Republic if Montario was permanently exiled.

Thankfully peace has returned to the Republic this morning and there is a great cry of unity between all the Martíno people regardless of which party they are from.

There is a general feeling that the nation has been reborn. Hopefully this peace will last.

Election Causes Tensions

Today, tensions have flared and sparks fly as election days looms ever closer.
Roberto Garcia y Ramirez, current President of the PCI said today in his
speech at the national PCI convention that he, would be running for president
this term AGAINST his friend and current boss, President Jose Agustin Allende,
President and Founding member of the PDC, and current President. Alejandro Tovar
has stated that he, would like to take Alarico Pablo Montario's spot as Minister of Defense,
if possible. President Allende has stated if he is elected President again, this change will
not take place.

Meanwhile, in Congress, several bills are being put to the test, including the PDC's
Human Rights Committee act, which would bring in a committee to make sure all laws regarding equality were obeyed. This bill was earlier questioned by both the PSD and PCI, saying it was mere 'words' from the PDC administration. Other proposed bills include Education Act of 05, Labor Unions Act of 05, Workers Rights Act 05.

San Martin has gained intermicronational recognition as a state, surpassing many micronations such as Victoria, and is soon to be challenging that of Babkha, which is currently retaining it's citizen count as 16 active citizens. San Martin is currently at 12 active citizens, and 20 members, spectacular for a 6 week old nation that started off with just the President and Vice President, then grew to 4, with the addition of Alarico Pablo Montario and Cristo de Loutrado.

President Allende launches tour of the provinces

Altamira, San Martin; El Nuevo Dia - The province of Altamira was the first stop yesterday in a tour of all of San Martin launched by President Allende. The tour's purpose, said President Allende, is to "get to know the leaders of the provinces so I can make the best decision on who to appoint as the Governors of the different provinces." President Allende will be on tour for a undetermined amount of days, but it is said that he will return in time to make the key-note speech at the Christian Democrat National Convention in Las Cruces.

Congressional committee working on drafting a Bill of Rights in San Martin

Los Santos, San Martín; El Nuevo Día - Vice-President Roberto García y Ramírez opened a congressional committee recently to start drafting a Declaration of Rights of San Martinos that would be added to the national Constitution via an amendment. Major San Martinian politicians like Ministers Aruarte, Loutrado, President Allende and others have joined forces to begin drafting this important document. President Allende offered a draft earlier yesterday, which was recieved with general support from both Christian Democrats and Socialists alike. The Committee will now evaluate the draft right by right before approving it.

San Martin will have a national public library open to all

In his announcement, he called upon all San Martinian citizens to join and help build and design the wiki. We could later expand this library and make it a world-class intermicronational library!" said President Allende to El Nuevo Dia in a hopeful mood.

Christian Democrats open their national party convention today

Las Cruces, San Martin; El Nuevo Dia - A sudden announcement was made today by the Chairman of the Christian Democratic Party (or PDC, in Spanish), Cristo de Loutrado and President Allende, that the National Convention for the PDC opened today. This is the first party national convention held in the history of the Republic of San Martin.

The Christian Democratic National Convention will be held in the province of Las Cruces, a traditional Christian Democrat province in San Martin, at the Eugenio Maria de Hostos Convention Center. The party convention will deal with the ratification of the final draft of the national party platform, the nominations for President and Vice-President in the upcoming national elections and the finalization of a congressional candidate list.

Key-note speeches will be made by President Allende, Ministers Loutrado and Montario and a new rising politician: Jose Enrique Martin. Meanwhile, as the convention starts, the President has announced that he will launch a tour of the provinces to begin considering appointments to the Governorships of each province.

Parties reshuffling as an election prelude, citizens up to 12

San Martín; El Nuevo Dia - The three major political parties in the Republic of San Martin: the Democratic Socialist Party (PSD in Spanish), the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI in Spanish) and the Christian Democratic Party (PDC in Spanish) have all had major shakeups ranging from new leadership to logo changes for the upcoming elections. Congress is currently debating on a bill that would set up the election schedule, and the parties have begun to take their time to prepare for the impending approval of the bill.

So far, the National Election Commission has been opened for people to submit their candidacy papers, along with any campaign advertisements and plans for campaign tours around San Martin.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of the Interior has seen a busy week with the submission of two new citizenship requests, raising the citizenship count in San Martin to 12 so far. In a period of less than 24 hours, more than 100 posts were made and the Republic forums are more active than ever. President Allende has publicly renewed invitations to join San Martin. "I want everyone that wishes to join to take part in a diverse, democratic society like the one we have here in San Martin. I am proud of all San Martinians and urge them to bring more people to our nation," said President Allende in an interview with El Nuevo Dia.

Ten citizens, elections... San Martin is busy!

Los Santos, San Martín; El Nuevo Dia - Today, the nation of San Martin met it's goal of ten citizens, which means that all positions are up for grabs, including those of the National Congress! President Jose Agustin Allende will probably the front runner for the Christian Democratic Party (Partido Democrata Cristiano, or PDC, in Spanish). While it is predicted that the Minister of the Interior, Alfonso Manuel Aruarte, will probably run for President under the banner of the Socialists. In an internal party reshuffling in the PDC, Alarico Pablo Montario has been named Vice Chairman, with Cristo de Loutrado becoming its first Chairman. Señor Allende shall hold a honorary position as Party President to allow Loutrado to take up the Chairmanship.

In other news, Cristo de Loutrado, the current Minister of Diplomatic Affairs for San Martin has left on official business to Attera and is currently working, with the help of Señor Montario, on the same sort of thing in Shireroth. Diplomatic relations are going good in Antica, with Señor Montario becoming the first official ambassador from San Martin to another nation.
